The Spencer Suite

This large 3rd floor room was probably used by the head of the household staff.  In the 1920s, an in-room bathroom was added, and in the 1940's, this room served as one of the master bedrooms. The original marble sink, a lovely window seat, a large flat screen TV, and nice sitting area provide you with plenty of amenities for your comfort. We think this room is too luxurious to be called the “Servant's Quarters with the beautiful king size bed,” so we have taken the liberty to name it the "Spencer Suite."  Please see Policies below.

$139 weekdays and $179 weekends and holidays

The Captain's Quarters

The Captain's Quarters on the 3rd floor is named for the captains of industry that have made Erie such a great waterway. A king-sized bed in a room filled with old world charm gives way to an oversized bathroom complete with a 2-person Jacuzzi and separate shower. Please see Policies below.

The President's Suite

This spacious room on the 2nd floor was the original master bedroom of the house. However, there was a time when William Spencer's uncle inhabited that room. He was a Civil War veteran, and due to a war injury, could not be exposed to sunlight. A wardrobe was built over the bay window in the room and was not removed until 1991 when the windows were exposed again. The bathroom is also not exactly original—it was once a closet. The bath with tub and shower was built in the 1920s for Mrs. Spencer. The fixtures and tile are original. This room offers a king-sized 4-poster cherry bed, nonworking fireplace, and seating area.  Please see Policies below.

Mary's Room

Mary's room is named for William Spencer's wife, Mary Dupuy. We don't know if she kept a separate room, but if she did, this hand-carved 1880s antique queen bed would have been inviting and comfortable. Two floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the front. Two former closets now serve as a private in-room bathroom.  Please see Policies below.

$99 on weekdays, $119 on weekends and holidays

The Nursery

This 2nd floor room is the former nursery for the Spencer children. This lovely room has a nonworking fireplace with a beautiful inscribed mantle, an original armoire, as well as two full-sized beds.  The private bathroom is located just outside the room and is the original bathroom to the house.  This bathroom offers an old-fashioned pull-chain water closet and king-sized clawfoot tub with shower.  Note, depending on occupancy, a third guest may be accommodated midweek off-season by calling the innkeeper, 814-464-0419.  Extra person charge applies.  Please see Policies below.

$109 on weekdays, $129 on weekends and holidays

The Nanny's Room

Around the corner from the nursery the nanny would have her own room and bath. This room is tucked nicely in the back of the house and is private and cozy. The room features an original marble fireplace (although no longer working), and a queen bed. The curtained off, semi-private hallway is lined in exposed original brickwork. The private bathroom is located in the hall and features a clawfoot tub with shower.  Please see Policies below.

Gift Certificates!

Are you looking for a special gift?  We will create an individual gift certificate just for you.  Give us a call for more details, 814-464-0419.  We will need just a little info from you:  Who is the gift for (real name and the way you want the certificate to read), who is it from, and any special message you want it to say.  Because we hold the certificate money separately until the gift is used, we do request payment by check.  Any extra money not used for the stay is refunded to the recipient, or if enough, we can add a little chocolate gift as a special surprise.  We can hold a credit card number if you need the gift right away to allow you to mail a check.  If we need to charge the card, there will be a 5% surcharge added as the card is considered unsecured.

  • All rates are for double occupancy and subject to 6% hotel occupancy tax. There is no need to pay the additional 7% county hotel tax when you stay at a Bed & Breakfast.  Please see Accommodations for prices. To maintain the ambiance in our rooms and suites, and also to maintain our sanity, we cannot accommodate requests for cots, air mattresses or roll-away beds.
  • CHILDREN:  When we are completely full, and on weekends, we can only accommodate 2 people per room.  We have one room (our Nursery) that does have 2 double beds and can hold 3 people upon occasion.  Well-behaved children 12 and older are welcome.  Please add $35 for the additional person, and call for availability.
  • While we ask for a two-night minimum on weekends, there are sometimes open rooms.  Thur-Fri or Sat-Sun reservations do free up single nights.  Our reservation page also has a note on the top if we have removed any minimums.  Please check there first--we may have a room for you!

  • Check-in is between 3 and 8 p.m. Arrangements can be made in advance for late arrivals, but you must call us so we can tell you how to get in.  If we cannot contact you and you arrive after we have gone to bed, you will be charged for the room.
  • Check-out is 11 a.m. please, so we can be ready for our next guests.

  • Included with the night's stay is a sumptuous, full hot breakfast each morning.  Complimentary beverages are always available on our second floor "solarium."  There is also a refrigerator for guest use.  Please be sure to share any dietary restrictions or allergies in advance.  If we are not notified of issues in advance of check in, we cannot guarantee that our breakfast can comply with your requirements.  We really want you to leave here happy.

  • We are proud to be a non-smoking inn. Smoking is permissible on our large front porch or anywhere outside.

  • Off-street parking is located in the back of the house.  Street parking is also available.

  • Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets except service animals. For those with allergies, please note that our resident co-owner cats Chi and Niki are not allowed in guest rooms, but have been known to wander the common areas when we aren't looking, and you know what it's like to wrangle a cat. Arrangements can be made for your traveling companions at nearby pet resorts.
