Lake Erie/ Presque Isle Bay is considered Pennsylvania's premier bass destination, and is considered “world class” for trophy smallmouth bass. "BassMaster" magazine rated Lake Erie as one of the best bass lakes in the United States. During PA's Trophy Season (Mid April thru mid June), catching a 4 or 5 pound smallie is rather common. All my fishing guests the last three seasons have caught at least one 5 pounder. Over the years I have caught seven smallmouth over 6 pounds and one over 7! So a monster is possible!
Largemough bass fishing in the bay is also outstanding with 50+ fish days possible. My personal best trip here at Erie with Buddy Long, a good fishing friend of mine (pictured in the Bass Pro shirt), is 634 bass in less than four days. That, my friends, is a boat full of bass!
I have learned these waters from an esteemed guide and have been fishing here for over 15+ years. After 12 years in the fishing tackle industry, with 8 of those at Bass Pro Shops, I would like to offer my guests a chance at fishing this great locale.
Stay with us mid-week, Mid-April through Mid-June, and I'll gladly take you out in my boat for a 4-6 hour trip @ $25 per hour for one or two people. Check my price against local guiding fees and you'll find this to be a great deal! The catch is that I get to do some fishing too. I can provide rods and the baits we will need for the afternoon. You bring snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and your enthusiasm to catch fish and have a good time. Even a "bad" day on Lake Erie is considered a good day anywhere else.
